A PREFACE FOR
Metaforma is a complex work that requires context. It's not directly stated in the work, as it would go against its final presentation.
Please consider the following while reading and especially before purchasing.
The foundational inspiration for Metaforma is Austrian-British philosopher Ludwig Wittgenstein's Tractatus Logico-Philosophicus. It adopts its "outline" format, as well as its approach in expression -- terse, direct, and rigid.
Due to this, Metaforma is deeply abstract. It is a very slow, dense, and complicated thing to read and it is difficult. However, as one actively tries to parse its language by rereading, analyzing, and drawing comparisons in one's own observations of the world, it is found to be increasingly simple, which is the primary goal.
The process of reading Metaforma is to reflect the difficult process of its construction, as well as the journey of slowly coming to understand the world, its movement, and where you and I all fit in it.
Metaforma is a world that is referenced directly from our own. Seeking to understand the contents of this work opens a path towards a more rich understanding of all of the patterns and movements of our world.
For Metaforma to reflect the dynamics of a world, significant degrees of creative effort had to be exercised on my part. Numerous perspectives, research material, and personal observations had to be knitted together so that it tells a cohesive narrative.
The following is a list of disciplines that had to be researched to form Metaforma's simplified picture of our world:
Phenomenology, hermeneutics, ontology, aesthetics, the philosophy of mathematics, language, and religion.
Geometry, (theoretical) physics, astronomy, dynamical systems, and biochemistry.
Psychology (behavioral, cognitive, psychoanalytical), ethics, sociology, symbolism, and eschatology.
It must be noted that my own understanding of each of these items is uneven and incomplete. It must also be noted that I am prone to bias -- some of these items are also more interesting to me than others and this is certainly reflected in the work itself.
Though I've taken great caution to ensure that each item is featured as accurately as possible (without blatant error and contradiction, while remaining within the parameters of this work), I wouldn't recommend taking what is stated in the work as absolute fact.
I would also refrain from thinking that this work is completely without contradiction, despite my best efforts to avoid it. The work is description from the eyes of a single person that was aided by a body of information that may have been interpreted incorrectly. Due to this, it is prone to flaw.
The following is a brief outline for each chapter of Metaforma and how I intended for it to connect to our world.
A table of contents; a brief outline of the book's progression, in its own language.
II - ⊙
A geometric construction of Metaforma's world, providing the ground for its "physics" and a reference for all other patterns that will be mentioned in the work.
III - The World
The physics of motion, light, electromagnetism, gravitation, and the formation of the subatomic, molecular, planetary and celestial.
IV - The Form
Awareness and consciousness; the perspective localizes upon a singular entity and is structured as an expanding web of implicitly understood context. Lifeforms are constructed with this context.
V - The Act
Observed, biological behavior and (ethical) necessitarianism. With implicit awareness, lifeforms act in the world in the way that they must (based on what is directly observed of these lifeforms).
VI - The Abstract
Psychology, psychoanalysis, the flow of information, the foundation of power dynamics, aesthetics, and interpretation. Focus returns to the geometric to build the structure of how information flows between bodies.
* This is the longest and most complicated section of the work. It is meant to structure future projects and is more of a toolbox than anything else. It is more "interactive," provided one has the patience to understand its toolset.
* To avoid a headache, I recommend skipping to the subsection called "Expyr" and following through the rest of the work. The following sections are much easier to digest from this point forward.
VII - "Commune"
The behavior of populations and their dynamics upon a collective. Perhaps the easiest chapter in the entire work to read and directly relate to without too much context.
VIII - "Construct"
Our own present time in history, as well as our future, as a complex, technological aggregate of inconceivable power. It is highly interpretative as I'd rather not detail the innumerable ongoings of the modern era in a work that's supposed to be brief.
IX - "After"
Corresponds to our persistence as symbolic structures, as we continue to radiate upon the world. The work formally concludes here.
The apex, the beginning and the end, of the book -- the cover.
