VIII.4 : CYCLES

Welcome, new and old!

It's been three months.

Which means it's quarterly update time.

Did I complete the goals I set for April?

Let's see!

[~] All of the Praxis content for the Nine Fragments

Ehhh, well, it sort of happened! It just went in a direction I didn't foresee. If you're curious, this was original idea, but I realized I just didn't have it in me to pour out the contents of my head (again). I'm not as verbose as I used to be, so most of the pages would only have a few sentences and my inner designer thinks that's a colossal misuse of the space provided. Also, a lot of the pages would be a bit repetitive. Redundant. And that's something I try to avoid.

And, seeing that I now greatly value interactivity when it comes to the things that I make, it eventually turned into a fun little quiz which is an excellent way of delivering information.

I do think that one day I'll return to the idea of creating a database for all of the theory. Maybe it would just have to start as a dictionary.

Actually, just saying that is giving me a few ideas...

[So, I've spent the past 20 minutes sitting here trying to figure out how I can bring you in on my thought process and explain what I'm imagining, but doing so would eclipse the length of how long this update is likely going to be, so for this segment just imagine a chaotic whirlwind of letters, words, and sentences flickering across your vision and throughout all of that, you get bullied by the word "coruscating" constantly yammering in your ear or something like that]

...

Anyway, no time for that now. It's time for the second item on the list, which was:

[✓✓] Three worksheets based on that content

Three? Too easy. I made four. And I even managed to tie it into the (very praxis-orientated) quiz. And admittedly, there's not much more to say about them.

Good job, me.

So, what have I gleaned from the process?

Action, Practicality, Finality

The process of putting all of these together forced a kind of "final version" of these ideas that I could actually start building on top of. The idea of a "final version" was, and somewhat still is, anathema to me. A philosophy, I think, must always be ever-changing. If it isn't, it means that the person holding said philosophy isn't learning or experiencing anything new.

Of course, there was some hypocrisy there.

I kept reintroducing my ideas in the exact same way. "In the beginning, ..." blah, blah, blah. The moment I caught myself doing that again with the "developing all of the Praxis" stuff, I immediately stopped. There's certainly no growth to be had in repeating the same story structure every time I was driven to explain my ideas after tearing up the mental floorboards I painstakingly, yet erroneously, placed.

Maybe in the past I was more adamant that constant, foundational overhauls were the hallmarks of a person that's growing. It may very well be true still. But growth may be signified by subtle, ongoing refinements, too. Developing security is indeed possible! And intellectual security isn't necessarily a sign of stagnation. You just stacked and glued your blocks together in such a way that it's rather difficult to knock them over again. You've reach a conclusion. Conclusions are good. They're a new floor to play new stacking games on.

To cut the analogy short, it's like Tetris.

And one of the few things it took for me to put all of these concepts into a coherent, and frankly, usable order was making their development public and stating my intentions of helping others with these ideas. It's funny that I said that I'm not a fan of being repetitive and redundant (and I even said this upcoming point in the previous quarterly update), but I suppose we all find it difficult to not stress the statements we find most valuable: telling others what you're doing and intend to do applies a form of social pressure, even if it's mild. And depending on how you go about sharing the development, it adds a time pressure, too. Not everyone is susceptible to that, but I know for sure that I am.

So, it shall continue.

And I have an idea of where to take all of this next.

(Because I've been mulling it over for the past few weeks.)

Quarterly Goals

Let's set some new goals. Of course, we're still going to keep manageable, but also slightly mysterious to build some suspense (for you and me).

This is what must be done by July 15th:

  • develop The Series™ to inform and entertain with the fragments

  • develop The Way™ to help people with their own goals via the fragments

And that's all I'm going to say about it for now.

Unless you ask.

Then...

Yeah.

Sure.

I guess I'd tell you.

[shrug]

I've been pondering what heinous thing I could push onto you in this update.

Fortunately for you, I've come up blank.

But there is something to celebrate, though.

We've gained over 30 people in the past three months.

That's more than I've gotten in three years!

(Surprise, surprise.)

Here's my ask for you today.

This totally isn't hinting at my quarterly goals.

This is definitely just an advertisement.

(Brought to you by Nexumorphic.)

New here? Give it a look, you'll love it.

Watched it before? Watch it again.

Can't sit through 27 minutes? Don't worry, it'll feel like 7.

Can't sit through 7 minutes? Well, it'll feel like 27 hours.

That's basically infinite entertainment nowadays.

You're welcome.

Enjoy the show.

That's all I have for you today.

Thank you for your time and attention.

Next update on the 7th, barring emergencies.

Until then,

👋
